Attendance was down some from last year but I think that the high cost of fuel along with some unusually cold and wet weather may have contributed to that factor.
Thanks to all those who volunteered and to all the vendors along with all those who attended. You all helped make this convention a success.

FBU EDUCATIONAL COMMITTEE/ NTA COLORING BOOKS: FBU has recently received a large grant from a private donor who would like to see this money used for educating youth and the public about the importance of trapping. FBU President, Jim Curran appointed the following people to make up this committee, Matt Lumley-Chairman, Karola Owen-Vice Chair, Chris Flynn & Todd Roggenkamp. Even prior to a committee being appointed, Matt Lumley and myself personally called and talked to either the NTA Director or President of each state to inform them of the upcoming “educational package” that was being put together which state affiliates will have an opportunity to use for educational purposes in their own state events. The potential for this to provide an ongoing opportunity for states to get good educational materials to use for educational purposes is unlimited. We hope to have a “sample package” sent out to each state very shortly.
NTA CONVENTION COORDINATOR POSITION: During the Executive Council conference call on February 11, 2008 Dave Roberts, NTA Office Manager reported the Jen Hollars had resigned from her position as Convention Coordinator. The Executive Council discussed and decided that Alfred Bradford, NTA Vice President will contact Chris Bezio to see if he would be willing to assist the NTA with the conventions until a new Convention Coordinator is hired.
2008 NTA AWARD NOMINATIONS: Just a reminder to all that it is time to start thinking about who you would like to see get awards at this years upcoming awards banquet. You can send nominations to the NTA Office, with the attention to the awards committee.
As always, if any of you are not already members of the NTA and would like to join, or if you’re not sure when your membership is up for renewal, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your support.

PBS “ SPOTLIGHT ON”: The NTA and FBU worked with Trivue Entertainment to create a shortened version of the Destroying the Myth video to be aired on PBS. This segment is called “Spotlight On” and will be viewed by an estimated 3.5 million viewers. This shortened public service announcement (PSA) will be 4 minutes and 30 seconds long. The great part about this opportunity is that Trivue contacted the NTA and asked if we’d be interested in providing them with a PSA. The NTA and FBU worked to generate this piece and they will air it as we have provided. This is scheduled to be aired the second quarter of 2008. Once we have more information a notice will be posted on the NTA website.
NTA COLORING BOOKS: The NTA coloring books will be at the NTA office soon and ready to ship. FBU will be handling the distribution of these “educational” items. FBU and NTA will be working together to create an educational packet that will contain several different items, including the coloring books and tri-folds.
